Biography of Spurious

Spurious started his musical career in 2015 with the number #1 position worldwide on Beatport.
However, the real start was years before that date...

Spurious, who’s real name is John, literally grew up with music. Born in The Netherlands, with a big passion for music he was already sharing his favourite music with others at the age of 10. During his youth John got influenced by the music of artists like: Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Dune, The Prodigy and Chicane.

John started producing and mixing music around 1998 and his first released song was in 2007 on an oldskool cd and vinyl. Music with enchanting melodies is what John has always felt connected to, and that’s also the rule that he observes with his music: “You’ve got to feel that song!”.

In 2015 John conquered the #1 position worldwide on Beatport with his solo album from Spurious. A lot of singles followed on multiple record labels and appeared on many compilations. In the end of 2016 John also started his podcast ‘Chill Out Now’ which is available for free on multiple platforms like Tunein and iTunes.

Another highlight in John his musical career was the opportunity to remix ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ from Hardage and Maxi Priest which has been released on the 7th of December 2017. Click here to see the complete discography of Spurious.
